Day trip to Dusseldorf
Looking at these pictures, I already miss Christmas! Even before Christmas break, on a random Tuesday, me and Mitchell decided to go to Dusseldorf in Germany for the day. Good thing about living in the East of the country is that Dusseldorf is only a 1,5 hrs drive away! As German cities are known for their advent markets, we had been thinking about visiting one this year. We ended up with going to Dusseldorf because we had heard in Dusseldorf you could easily combine your advent market visit with shopping, and we also wanted to do some shopping that day. To be honest with you, I liked the advent market in Brugge (Belgium) better (more on my trip to Brugge later), but we had a great day together going back and forward through the streets, eating bratwurst and kartoffel puffer (fried mashed potatoes), and having hot chocolate in a cute snowman-shaped mug.
I'm sad Christmas break is over, but at the same time that means that a lot of exciting things are coming up! I'm excited to tell you that a few of my trips this year are confirmed: Copenhagen, London, Hong Kong and Curacao are for sure this year! Mitchell thinks I'm a travel addict and I'm afraid I'll have to confirm that's true... although, you may wonder, is that a bad thing, really? I like the saying "Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer" - doesn't that hold so much truth? I recently read this article that claimed that traveling will make you much happier than spending the money on material things, and I think that might be true as well...
In the meantime, the weather is finally starting to get really cold down here, and I feel like I'm starting to get the winter blues... I feel like staying warm & comfortable inside all the time! January will also be a very busy month for me, so I hope I'll be able to keep up with my blog. But I probably will, now I feel more like staying inside with my laptop than going places (which is unique!).
Hope you are at a warm place now & if not, don't get frozen! :)
